Alawami spent more than 24 years with HSBC in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, latterly as Senior Manager, Business Development in the bank's Global Banking and Markets division, working with corporate and institutional clients across the Kingdom. Since 2021 he has served as an Investment Manager at SHUAA Capital in London and as an Investment Advisor to Ellington Capital Management in Dubai. Since 2016 he has also advised real estate developers and private investors across the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on financial and property investments. He is based in Dubai.

As Chairman, Alawami will guide the firm's board, governance and strategy across the Gulf and support the senior team on its most important institutional relationships in the region, with a particular focus on Saudi Arabia. He first joined Artane Partners as a member of its advisory board before assuming the Chairman role, and works alongside Ali Al-Khaldi, the Riyadh-based member of the firm's Board of Advisors.
