Pre-lit garlands, wreaths and window candles ship now as manufacturers warn of 15% price increases and constrained selection for the 2026 season.

The company points to two conditions it expects to define this year: tightening supply in imported holiday decor, and a customer base that now starts holiday buying well before November.

"By the time most people think about garland, the color and size they wanted has already shipped," said Mara Harris, Co-Owner of Celestial At Home. "This year that is going to happen earlier than usual. We would rather tell people in August than apologize in November."

WHY THE 2026 SEASON IS DIFFERENT

Roughly 87 percent of Christmas decor sold in the United States is sourced from China, according to the American Christmas Tree Association. Reporting from Yiwu, the Chinese manufacturing city that produces a large share of the world's artificial trees, tinsel, and ornaments, indicates that the 2026 production cycle has been disrupted.

CNBC reported on April 20, 2026 that shipping disruption in the Strait of Hormuz and elevated oil prices had raised one Yiwu artificial tree manufacturer's cost per tree by 10 percent, with the PET plastic used in artificial pine needles up 5 percent and shipment packaging plastic up 15 percent. A tinsel manufacturer in the same market reported plastic input prices up as much as 40 percent. Manufacturers told CNBC that buyers were holding off on orders and that delivery schedules were being compressed into a May through August window, concentrating demand.

"The price of Christmas trees in the U.S. will definitely go up," artificial tree maker Lou Liping told CNBC. "It is unavoidable." She estimated American shoppers would pay at least 15 percent more this season.

For homeowners, the practical effect of a compressed production cycle is not only price. It is selection. When factory output is reduced and orders are placed late, the colorways, lengths, and light configurations that sell first are the ones that do not get restocked.

WHEN AMERICANS ACTUALLY BUY

Consumer research supports an earlier decision window. In its annual holiday survey, fielded October 1 to 7, 2025, the National Retail Federation found that 42 percent of shoppers planned to begin browsing and buying for the holiday season before November. NRF put average planned spending at $890.49 per person, of which $262.56 was allocated to seasonal items including food, candy, decorations, and greeting cards.

Decorating itself starts earlier than many people assume. YouGov surveys conducted December 1 to 3 and December 3 to 5, 2025, among 1,114 and 1,122 U.S. adult citizens, found that 18 percent of those planning to have a Christmas tree put it up before Thanksgiving, 28 percent between Thanksgiving and December 1, and 30 percent during the first week of December. The same research found that 81 percent planned to have an artificial tree.

HOW LONG DOES A BATTERY OPERATED GARLAND STAY LIT?

Every battery operated piece in the Holiday 2026 collection runs the same timer cycle: 6 hours on, 18 hours off, or steady burn. PLYMOUTH, the deluxe fir, combines pine, douglas fir, and cedar tips. The battery operated garland is available in 6, 9, and 12 foot lengths, with plug-in configurations alongside, and the battery operated wreath comes in 24 and 30 inch diameters from $115.00.

NORFOLK PINE, a soft-drape profile with warm white LED fairy lights, real pinecones, and lifelike juniper blueberries, is available as a garland in 6 and 9 foot lengths and as a wreath in 24 and 30 inch diameters.

The collection also includes a battery operated mini tree at $65.00 and a plug-in stake tree with RGBWW LEDs and 50 color combination and function settings from $169.00. WHEN TO CHOOSE PLUG-IN INSTEAD

Most of the company's greenery is offered in both a battery operated version with dual-color lights and a plug-in version with classic warm white lights.
