With 3,000+ expected attendees, this event will bring together students, families, entrepreneurs, community leaders, local elected officials, business executives, educators, and civic leaders to kick off the new school year and accelerate small business success in Harlem.

This year's Back to School Block Party will give away over 1,000 book bags filled with school supplies, directly benefiting 1,000 students in the community. This is Harlem Commonwealth Council's first annual Back to School Block Party. Since 2008, HCC has deployed more than $17 million back into the Harlem community. The block party will feature an exciting lineup of activities and experiences designed to engage, inspire, and equip attendees with tangible resources for success:
Community Vendor Village – A vibrant marketplace featuring local businesses, partners, educational institutions, health and wellness providers, and community resources offering direct engagement with hundreds of students and families.
Live DJ Experience – A DJ will provide family-friendly music, introduce special guests, celebrate sponsors, and recognize student achievements throughout the day.
Family Fun Zone – Interactive attractions including bounce houses and youth activities create a welcoming space for children and families to play and connect.
Free Resources for Students & Families – Free backpacks (while supplies last), school supplies, and access to community resources and programs designed to help youth and families thrive throughout the school year.
Students and families attending will have access to free backpacks, school supplies, entertainment, and activities for all ages. More importantly, attendees will connect with organizations offering valuable programs, services, and opportunities throughout the year from workforce development to youth programming to entrepreneurship support.
The Vendor Village provides an unparalleled platform for corporate, banking, government, and community partners to engage with hundreds of students, parents, and community members in a single day. This year, we're thrilled to feature a lineup of Harlem's finest businesses and organizations from Rosie's Bites by the Park food truck, Safari Restaurant and Make My Cake to St. Claire Naturals, HMG Essentials, and local treasures like Africa in Harlem and Ying and Kang Jewelry. Our Vendor Village showcases the rich entrepreneurial spirit of our community. Exhibiting organizations will build meaningful relationships, increase brand visibility, and share their programs and services with families who benefit most from their offerings, all while celebrating the local businesses that make Harlem special.
