Howie's Place now reaches seniors, children and people with special needs across South Florida
My goal is simple: to make the resource available to as many people and families as possible.”
BOCA RATON, FL, UNITED STATES, August 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- At just 16 years old, Boca Raton resident Morgan Cole has turned a deeply personal experience into a free resource helping people of all ages stay engaged, connected and mentally active. — Morgan Cole, founder of Howie’s Place
Morgan created Howie’s Place, a free app designed to support individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of cognitive decline. Inspired by her grandfather, Howie, she set out to create a simple, enjoyable platform where users could play familiar word and math games without pop-up advertisements, countdown clocks or complicated instructions.
Morgan’s grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2018. He had always enjoyed classic word and math games, but as the disease progressed, the online games he once relied on became increasingly difficult to navigate.
As she watched one of his favorite activities disappear, Morgan looked unsuccessfully for an app or website that could provide him with a simple way to play games that helped him maintain his computer skills and mental acuity. “When my grandfather was in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, his occupational therapist and doctor encouraged him to continue playing mentally stimulating games on the computer to help maintain his cognitive skills,” Morgan said. “It was impossible to find that app.”
What began as a personal project has since grown into a resource for a much broader community. Today, Howie’s Place is being used not only by seniors experiencing memory loss, but also by individuals with special needs and traumatic brain injuries, as well as children who benefit from its interactive brain games, cognitive exercises, and engagement activities. Users, caretakers, or clinicians can tailor the settings to an individual’s needs. They can set the games to beginner, medium, and challenging difficulty levels. The app also allows users and occupational therapists to track game statistics if they wish. The games can be played in Spanish or English.
Howie’s Place is designed to create opportunities for meaningful engagement while helping users practice and strengthen cognitive skills without the pressure that can make traditional brain-game apps frustrating. Morgan created a platform that is now helping people of different ages and abilities to stay engaged and create greater accessibility and independence. Morgan has presented Howie’s Place to organizations throughout South Florida. She added: “My goal is simple: to make the resource available to as many people and families as possible.”
Morgan’s grandfather passed away before he could see how many people her idea would ultimately reach, but his legacy lives on through the app that bears his name.
Howie’s Place is free to download and use on iOS and Android. Howie’s Place can also be played online at howiesplace.org.
