The SOLIX Backup Type Indicator and a free system sizing tool are available at no cost during National Preparedness Month.
BELLEVUE, WA, UNITED STATES, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Anker SOLIX today launched the SOLIX Backup Type Indicator, a free interactive quiz that helps households assess their level of blackout preparedness, timed to National Preparedness Month. For every 200 people who complete the quiz, the company donates a portable power station to two rural Texas emergency management agencies. The quiz consists of four questions and takes about thirty seconds. It asks how a household would respond to scenarios such as a hurricane warning, then returns a preparedness profile. Answer options range from "Already on it. Checklist was ready in May. Generator tested." to "Keep watching my show. Glanced at the warning. Looks fine." No purchase or account is required.
The format is intended to lower the barrier to preparedness planning. Research on emergency preparedness has consistently found that households delay planning until an event is imminent. A short interactive format asks less of participants than a checklist, and produces a result that can be shared, extending the message to people who were not seeking preparedness information.
The donations go to Johnson County Emergency Management & Fire Marshal's Office and Hill County Emergency Management & Communications, both serving rural areas of Texas. The two counties contend with flooding, severe weather and, seasonally, wildfire. Hill County covers 986 square miles with a population of approximately 36,000, meaning response crews routinely operate at distance from reliable power sources.
Anker SOLIX also released a second free tool for households that identify a gap in their own preparedness. The Whole-Home Backup System Finder asks which appliances a household needs to keep running and for how long, then returns a recommended system configuration based on that load. It is available without registration.
Both tools address whole-home backup, a category in which Anker SOLIX manufactures the E10 system. When paired with the Power Dock, the E10 backs up all household circuits at 200A and transfers to battery power in 20 milliseconds.
