JAKARTA, INDONESIA, August 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- PT Bank SMBC Indonesia Tbk. (Bank SMBC Indonesia) is strengthening its trade and supply chain finance capabilities and supporting the development of a more efficient, resilient, and sustainable trade ecosystem through a collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

This collaboration enables Bank SMBC Indonesia to expand financing for business across various segments under an unfunded risk participation scheme.

Under this scheme, ADB will act as a strategic risk-sharing partner for Bank SMBC Indonesia’s trade and supply chain finance portfolio. This partnership is prudently designed to reinforce existing credit contingency mechanisms and maintain Bank SMBC Indonesia’s credit quality at a healthy level.

“Trade and supply chain finance plays an increasingly vital role in connecting businesses, supporting commercial activities, and strengthening value chains,” said Bank SMBC Indonesia Deputy President Director Jun Saito.

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to continuously enhancing our capabilities and providing solutions that support the evolving business needs of our clients within the broader business ecosystem.”

Bank SMBC Indonesia will continue to handle the entire process of transaction origination, administration, management, and monitoring.

As part of the ADB’s trade and supply chain finance program, Bank SMBC Indonesia ensures that this collaboration aligns with good corporate governance principles, encompassing customer due diligence, regulatory compliance, and continuous portfolio monitoring. This framework supports the implementation of prudent banking practices in line with international standards.

Trade and supply chain finance represents a strategic solution for Bank SMBC Indonesia to grow alongside its clients across every stage of the value chain, while continuously enhancing system and product capabilities—from the corporate to micro segments.

This commitment aligns with the business growth of Bank SMBC Indonesia’s corporate and commercial segments. As of the end of June 2026, the bank recorded 12.8% year-on-year growth in consolidated loans within the corporate and commercial segments, reaching Rp116.5 trillion. Furthermore, positive loan growth was also recorded by other business segments, including Jenius which grew by 9.9% year-on-year to Rp3.69 trillion, BTPN Syariah which grew by 8.7% year-on-year to Rp11.03 trillion, and the financing subsidiaries OTO & SOF which increased by 5.8% year-on-year to Rp31.89 trillion.

“This collaboration further strengthens Bank SMBC Indonesia’s role as a trusted financial partner in supporting trade and supply chain activities in Indonesia. We expect this synergy to expand financing access for businesses, enhance the resilience of the trade ecosystem, and contribute to sustainable economic growth,” concluded Saito.
