ELFIGO Introduces the Travelier: A Suitcase-Sized Motorised Wheelchair Designed for Modern Family Travel

ELFIGO Travelier, New Compact Electric Wheelchair Aims to Address Travel Mobility Challenges for Seniors

SINGAPORE, PAYA LEBAR, SINGAPORE, August 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- ELFIGO Mobility has introduced the Travelier Suitcase Electric Wheelchair, a new mobility aid developed in response to increasing demand from seniors and caregivers seeking practical mobility solutions during domestic and international travel.

As Singapore's population continues to age and more seniors remain active later in life, travel accessibility has become an important consideration for families. While mobility devices have expanded access to public spaces and transportation, transporting electric wheelchairs during travel remains a common challenge due to size, weight, and airline requirements.

The Travelier was developed to address some of these practical considerations through a compact design intended for use during travel.

Designed Around Travel Requirements

The wheelchair can be folded and stored inside a mid-sized suitcase, allowing it to be transported as checked luggage while providing additional protection during transit.

According to ELFIGO Mobility, feedback from customers and caregivers indicated that transporting mobility devices through airports, hotels, and other travel environments often requires additional planning and assistance.

"The ability to travel comfortably remains an important aspect of independence for many seniors," said Warren Chew, Founder of ELFIGO Mobility. "We observed that some families faced challenges transporting traditional electric wheelchairs during trips, which prompted us to explore alternative design approaches focused on portability and travel."

Focus on Caregiver-Assisted Mobility

Unlike many electric wheelchairs that are primarily operated by the user through a joystick, the Travelier is controlled using a Bluetooth remote operated by a caregiver.

The design is intended for situations where caregiver supervision may already be part of daily mobility support, including individuals living with age-related mobility limitations or certain neurological conditions.

Consideration for Airline Travel

The wheelchair is equipped with batteries below 100Wh, a capacity that generally falls within commonly accepted airline guidelines for carry-on lithium batteries, subject to individual airline policies and approval requirements.

The batteries are also CCC certified, a certification commonly required for certain products entering China.

Intended Usage Environment

According to ELFIGO Mobility, the Travelier is designed primarily for indoor and travel-related environments, including airports, shopping centres, hotels, convention venues, and tourist attractions.

For steeper slopes, uneven terrain, or challenging outdoor surfaces, caregiver-assisted manual pushing is recommended to maintain safety and control.

Addressing Mobility Needs During Travel

Industry observers have noted growing interest in mobility products that support active ageing and participation in community activities. As more seniors continue travelling with family members, demand for transportable mobility solutions is expected to remain an area of development within the personal mobility sector.

ELFIGO Mobility distributes personal mobility aids including motorised wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walking aids, and related accessibility products across Singapore and selected regional markets.
