New pediatric eye care team increases access to specialized ophthalmology and optometry services for children throughout the region

PORTLAND, OR, UNITED STATES, September 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- EyeHealth Northwest, a comprehensive eye care practice serving the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area with ophthalmology and optometry services across multiple locations, is pleased to announce the expansion of its pediatric eye care services, providing greater access to specialized pediatric ophthalmology and optometry care for children throughout the region.

The expansion comes as demand for pediatric eye care continues to outpace the availability of specialists in the region, making timely diagnosis and treatment harder for many families to access. Conditions such as amblyopia, strabismus, and other childhood vision disorders are most effectively treated when identified early, and EyeHealth Northwest's expanded team is designed to close that gap for patients and referring providers alike.

Leading the effort is Sasha Strul, MD, a pediatric ophthalmologist joining EyeHealth Northwest from the Minnesota Lions Children's Eye Clinic. Dr. Strul brings subspecialty training and eight years of clinical experience in pediatric ophthalmology, and her practice will focus exclusively on pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.

She will lead a newly expanded pediatric eye care team that includes an orthoptist and an additional pediatric optometrist, giving EyeHealth Northwest a fuller range of diagnostic and treatment capabilities under one roof. The orthoptist strengthens the team's ability to evaluate and manage complex eye alignment and binocular vision issues in coordination with Dr. Strul and the broader care team.

Dr. Strul will initially see patients at EyeHealth Northwest's Milwaukie office on Mondays and Tuesdays, and at the Peterkort office on Thursdays and Fridays. This two-location schedule is intended to maximize access for families across the region while EyeHealth Northwest completes plans for a new, stand-alone pediatric eye care clinic, anticipated to open in spring 2027. Once complete, the dedicated clinic will house the full pediatric team in a single, child-focused setting designed specifically around the needs of young patients and their families.

“We are excited to expand access to pediatric ophthalmic care in an area where these services are greatly needed,” said Dr. Charles Bock, Pediatric Ophthalmologist at EyeHealth Northwest. “We look forward to caring for children and families in the community.”

With the addition of its expanded pediatric eye care team, EyeHealth Northwest continues its commitment to providing high-quality, accessible eye care for patients of all ages throughout the region. Referring providers and families can expect a streamlined process so that children can be seen quickly by the right specialist, whether the need is a routine pediatric eye exam, management of strabismus, or a more complex ophthalmic condition.
