The idea came from client Amanda Riedling's talk on attorney work-life balance. Forward Push, a Gold Sponsor of the Cobb Bar, pitched the hike to make it real.
The hike is set for Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield. It is open to Cobb Bar members and their families. Attendees will meet at the Cheatham Hill Drive/Illinois Monument parking lot and walk a 2-mile trail that takes about 45 minutes to complete. Forward Push is providing drinks and snacks so families can show up and just walk.
"Amanda stood up and said what every attorney already knows but doesn't say out loud, that the job eats the rest of your life if you let it," said Marc Apple, founder and partner at Forward Push Law Firm Marketing. "We didn't want to just nod along. We wanted to put something on the calendar."
Meg Garavaglia, Director of Client Growth at Forward Push, will attend the hike. "I left a three-hour commute years ago because I wanted my family back, so I know exactly what Amanda was talking about. That's why we brought this idea to the Bar instead of just sponsoring whatever came next. We wanted this one to exist."
The Cobb County Bar Association was organized in 1953 and has served Cobb County attorneys for more than 70 years through membership meetings, social events, and a lawyer referral service.
