SEATTLE, WA, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- (Seattle, Washington, Aug. 19, 2026) LifeScienceHistory.com (LSH) announces the release of its E-history Spotlight this month shining light on Immunization Awareness Month.

”Getting your required vaccinations is more important than ever today given the monumental changes and challenges impacting our nation’s healthcare,” said Phil Ness, founder and publisher of LifeScienceHistory.com.

Data reported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show childhood vaccination rates continue to decline while vaccination exemptions are at an all-time high. During the 2024-25 school year, coverage for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTaP), polio, and varicella vaccines decreased among kindergartners.

MMR vaccination coverage was just 92.5%, well below the 95% threshold needed to prevent transmission of measles virus. State-level coverage for MMR vaccines varied, ranging from 78.5% in Idaho to 98.2% in Connecticut, and only 10 states had coverage above 95%.

“Declining vaccination rates across the nation are causing vaccine-preventable disease, such as measles to infect children, our most vulnerable,” Ness added. “In 2000, measles was declared no longer endemic in the U.S. following eradication campaigns begun in the mid-1960s,” said Ness. “That status will probably be lost this year. To date, we already have the highest number of measles cases seen in thirty-five years, and we’re still counting, Ness noted.

The August E-history Spotlight highlights historical events ranging from George Washington mandating smallpox inoculation for all Continental soldiers, and military typhoid and influenza immunizations to the Salk vaccine, mpox, measles and new mRNA-based influenza vaccine.

The E-history content originate from the company’s previous nationwide network of state- and Canadian province-based web sites emphasizing history making news at the local levels.

LSH also has a special section entitled Toons & Teasers where you can enjoy original life science cartoons that illustrate the current U.S. healthcare crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic from start to finish, notable scientists, and numerous milestones in science.

The cartoons are conceived by Phil Ness, owner and publisher of LSH, with illustration by Mark Reeve, an award-winning cartoonist, previously with The Mail On Sunday, who has done work for The Economist, GQ, and DC Comics.

LifeScienceHistory.com is a rapidly growing new resource for history making news, comprehensive company information with a one-of-a-kind Genealogy on Demand, all searchable by state and province, original cartoons, and original “Earth is a Rock, Let the DNA Mold Me,” a fast-paced science-celebrating rock n' roll song. The track calls out over 100 notable scientists, Nobel laureates, and scientific terms.

The song, written by Ness, Norman Dolph, and Paul DiFranco, is a scientific reimagining and rewrite of the 1974 hit song "Life is a Rock, But the Radio Rolled Me".

“Earth is a Rock, Let the DNA Mold Me” was released as a single and music/lyric video across major platforms including: Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube
