Campaign approaching twice the opponent’s fundraising pace in roughly 11 weeks

ROSEVILLE, CA, UNITED STATES, August 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- David Nelson’s campaign for Roseville City Council District 2 announced today that it raised nearly $21,000 by June 30, an impressive early showing that demonstrates strong momentum behind his call for a new generation of active, accessible leadership.

Nelson publicly launched his campaign on April 7 and began fundraising the following week. In approximately 11 weeks, with contribution caps of $500 per donor, his campaign raised nearly 70% of the total reported by his only opponent over a full six-month period.

His opponent began accepting contributions in early January and reported raising approximately $30,000 through the end of June. On a fundraising-pace basis, Nelson substantially outperformed the establishment-backed campaign despite entering the race months later by almost 2:1.

“This is about much more than dollars,” Nelson said. “It is about momentum and this sends a clear message that people across District 2 are ready for change. They want leadership that shows up, listens, communicates and works every day on their behalf. The days of assuming the status quo is entitled to continue are over.”

Nelson’s support has been built through direct conversations with residents, neighborhood walks, small-business outreach and community events throughout District 2. His campaign has emphasized public safety, responsible growth, fiscal accountability, support for local employers and protecting Roseville’s quality of life. Endorsed by Roseville Firefighters, he is the only public-safety endorsed candidate.

“The people of District 2 deserve the most active and responsive council member possible,” Nelson said. “I have demonstrated that character and commitment repeatedly throughout my career, and I will serve this district with the integrity, transparency and accessibility it deserves.”

His campaign said the early fundraising performance reflects a broad and growing coalition of residents, business owners, families and community leaders who believe District 2 is facing a generational moment.

“Established political support may open doors, but it does not replace energy, effort or trust,” Nelson said. “We are earning this campaign one conversation, one doorstep at a time: and we are only getting started. I am so grateful, thankful and humbled by the groundswell of support.”
