Third high recovery BiTurbo™ unit increases property's total desalination capacity, continuing TSG's expansion of sustainable water production in the area.
The BiTurbo™ system uses a patented two-stage turbocharger design to achieve up to 60% recovery using standard membranes. That means the plant produces significantly more potable water from the same volume of seawater than a conventional single-stage system, while not having a negative impact on energy consumption and reducing comparative brine discharge. The new train is designed to meet World Health Organization (WHO) standards for potable water and is fully integrated into Chileno Bay's existing desalination facility under a PLC-based control system with remote monitoring.
